Wasn't eligible for home loan: Shreyas Talpade reveals how SRK changed his life
Actor Shreyas Talpade recalled how his work on the film Om Shanti Om helped him secure a home loan in Mumbai. Director Farah Khan said she had not realised the film had played such a significant role in his life.

Actor Shreyas Talpade recently looked back on a life-changing moment from his career, revealing that Om Shanti Om (2007) helped him buy his first home in Mumbai. Speaking during filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan's latest cooking vlog, the actor shared how working on the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer unexpectedly helped him secure a home loan.
The conversation began after Farah wrapped up her signature gifting segment, leaving Shreyas and his wife surrounded by presents. Reflecting on the film's impact on his life, Shreyas said it was Om Shanti Om that made homeownership a reality for him.
The actor revealed how the bank manager asked him to get a letter from SRK and upon receiving the same, he was immediately granted the loan.
Recalling the incident, he said, "I had gone to the bank, but I wasn't eligible for a home loan. Then the bank officer asked me, 'Which film are you working on?' I said, 'Om Shanti Om.' She asked, 'Who's in it?' I replied, 'Shah Rukh Khan.' Then she asked, 'Who's directing it?' I said, 'Farah Khan.' She smiled and said, 'Can you get me a letter?'"
He added that it was Farah who got him a letter from the superstar in two days.
Touched by Shreyas Talpade's revelation, Farah Khan admitted she had no idea that the film had played such a significant role in his life. Reacting with a smile, she said she was delighted to hear the story despite joking that the film hadn't paid him much.
