Technician dies on Bhansali's Love and War set; production house offers Rs 40 lakh
A technician died after an electric shock on the set of Love and War at Mumbai's Filmcity. The incident has led FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) to seek higher compensation for his family and stricter on-set safety.

A carpenter named Chandradhari Yadav lost his life after suffering an electric shock in a tragic accident on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War. The incident happened 3 days back on the sets, at Filmcity, Mumbai, where Alia Bhatt is also reportedly shooting.
Following the tragic incident, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions has offered Rs 40 lakh as compensation to Yadav’s family. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) confirmed the news to India Today, and shared that they have called for stricter safety measures on film sets to prevent such incidents in the future.
“Firstly, we want the compensation to be Rs 50 lakh given his children are very young, and the family will need aide for their education. Also, we have called for stricter safety measures on set, and also have the work hours streamlined for these workers. He was such a talented technician, and it’s heartbreaking that he lost his life this way,” FWICE president BN Tiwari told India Today.
Love and War, an emotional saga, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, will hit theatres as a Republic Day release on January 21, 2027. The film marks Ranbir and Alia’s reunion on the big screen after their 2022 action-fantasy, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. It is Bhansali's first directorial since the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), which also starred Alia.
Earlier, Ranbir had revealed during an Instagram Live session that Love and War would arrive in theatres after his upcoming epic, Ramayana: Part I, which is slated for a Diwali release this year, likely in the last week of October.
Love and War will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
