At the India Today Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, actor Anil Kapoor reflected on his early struggles in the film industry. He recalled how he was devastated after being rejected by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Speaking during a session titled The Ageless Revel: Rewriting the Rules of Stardom, Kapoor also addressed comparisons with legendary star Dev Anand. He said no one could match the icon and insisted on carving his own identity in cinema.
The 69-year-old also spoke about how he adopted stubble to appear older at a time when “he-men” like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna dominated the industry. Over time, the look became one of his most recognisable trademarks.
Lastly, he opened up about turning down a cameo role in one of the most anticipated films of 2026- Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
