Actor Chris Evans last played Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Since his Steve Rogers return being revealed in the first Avengers: Doomsday (2026) teaser, the actor has now opened up about the possibility of featuring in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).

In an interview with ComicCon Mom, Chris confirmed that beyond his Avengers: Doomsday role, Chris Evans will be back again in Avengers: Secret Wars. The news was first revealed by what seemed to be a voice message that the actor left for a fan. Chris said, "I can tell you that...I start work on the next one in a couple of months, I can tell you that."

According to the Doomsday teaser, Steve will have retired as a hero in the upcoming MCU movie, as he can be seen picking up his Captain America suit from Avengers: Endgame and putting it away in a box. Additionally, the Marvel superhero is now a father, as the first major Avengers: Doomsday story reveal was how Steve and Peggy Carter had a baby, with Captain America holding the kid lovingly.

The next two Avengers movies will spotlight the actor who started the MCU, as Robert Downey Jr returns to the franchise to play Doctor Doom, not Iron Man. Described as a master of cutting-edge technology and magic in the MCU, Downey's Doctor Doom is bound to create some multiversal chaos.

Interestingly, Chris's Marvel character was only referred to as Steve Rogers in the Avengers: Doomsday teaser, so Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson might be the only character to go by the Captain America title in the film. However, with Chris back for Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel will likely have Steve as Captain one last time before the film reboots the MCU.
