Filmmaker Curry Barker is already looking ahead to his next project. The 26-year-old has revealed that Anything But Ghosts, his upcoming horror feature, exists in the same universe as Obsession, creating a direct link between the two films.

Speaking during a recent post-screening Q&A for Obsession, Barker confirmed that the new film will reference events from his current release, including the fate of one of its central characters.

"There's like a news article thing in the next movie where you hear a news anchor talking about a triple homicide by a woman," Barker said, hinting at how the connection will be woven into the story.

The reference appears to point to the climactic events of Obsession. In the film's final act, Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, is driven to deadly violence after falling under a spell cast by Bear, portrayed by Michael Johnston. Although the spell is eventually broken following Bear's death, Nikki has already killed her friends Sarah and Ian, played by Megan Lawless and Cooper Tomlinson.

Barker's next feature, Anything But Ghosts, follows two con artists who pose as paranormal investigators but find themselves confronting a genuine supernatural threat. The film marks Barker's latest collaboration with Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster.

Barker has co-written the screenplay with Tomlinson and will also direct and star in the film. The cast includes Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard and Violet McGraw.

While plot details remain under wraps, Barker's latest comments confirm that Anything But Ghosts will not be a standalone story. Instead, it will expand the world introduced in Obsession, with at least one direct reference connecting the two films.

Meanwhile, his latest hit Obsession, is making waves at the global box office. Having been severely critically acclaimed, the film broke records by earning over $161 million (gross) worldwide.
