The directorial debut of 26-year-old filmmaker Curry Barker has steadily gained visibility online, with viewers discussing its unsettling premise and psychological horror elements. The film received an additional boost after Bollywood actors Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday shared positive reactions on social media.

Sacnilk reported that Tuesday's collection of Rs 2.75 crore was higher than Monday's Rs 2 crore, indicating sustained audience interest despite the weekday slowdown. The film has also been performing strongly in international markets.

The film's strong theatrical run has translated into a series of box-office milestones. As per international media reports, Obsession logged the highest second-weekend growth in North America outside the Christmas period in over four decades. It has additionally become Focus Features' highest-grossing film in the region, moving past Downton Abbey (2019), with $194.6 million.
