The film follows Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, a young Facebook engineer who turns whistleblower. She seeks the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White, in a move that leads to the disclosure of the social network’s closely held secrets.

The cast also includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong. The trailer sets up the film as a newsroom and corporate drama built around the events that led to the publication of The Facebook Files.

Allen White, who plays Horwitz in The Social Reckoning, was last seen in the sci-fi film, The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026). He also portrayed Bruce Springsteen in the musical biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (2025).

Interestingly, Sorkin had also written the screenplay of The Social Network, helmed by director David Fincher. The film featured Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg and Andrew Garfield as former Facebook founder Eduardo Saverin. The biographical drama also featured Justin Timberlake, Armie Hammer and Max Minghella in key roles.
