We meet again: Matt Reeves unveils The Batman: Part II cast in a unique reveal
Matt Reeves shared the cast of The Batman: Part II through a series of social media posts in a one-of-a-kind reveal. He paired each post with a short message addressed to the returning actors' characters.

Director Matt Reeves has begun unveiling the cast of The Batman: Part II through a series of social media posts that refer back to scenes and characters from the first film. The director shared social media updates on May 14, using GIFs from The Batman (2022) instead of a standard cast list.
Rather than making a conventional announcement, Reeves paired each of his X posts with a short message addressed to the returning actors’ characters. The staggered reveal also came with a teaser for more announcements, with Reeves telling fans that further updates would follow the next day.
Reeves first addressed Robert Pattinson, who is returning as Bruce Wayne, with the message, "We meet again, my friend." He then posted for Jeffrey Wright, who plays Jim Gordon, writing, "Here we go again, my friend."
The director followed that with a post for Andy Serkis, who is returning as Alfred Pennyworth, saying, “Are you ready, my friend...?” He continued the rollout with Colin Farrell, who plays Oz Cobb, and wrote, “Round two, my friend...?”
Jayme Lawson, who plays Bella Rel, was welcomed back with the message, "Welcome back to the fight, my friend." Reeves also shared a short post for Gil Perez-Abraham, writing, "Hey! Mr. Martinez!"
After the first set of cast reveals, Reeves signalled that more were on the way. He posted, “More... tomorrow...”, teasing another round of announcements.
About The Batman II
The Batman: Part II was teased earlier through a Batmobile test image shared by Reeves. The film is expected to be set in winter and to continue the darker tone established in the first movie.
The project is due to begin filming in June, with Mattson Tomlin co-writing the script alongside Reeves. The film will be released under DC Studios' Elseworlds label, which means it exists outside the main DC Universe storyline being developed by James Gunn.
Warner Bros. has scheduled The Batman: Part II for release on October 1, 2027. Reeves has so far revealed part of the returning cast through character-led posts, while indicating that more casting updates are still to come.
Actor Sebastian Stan, in a recent interview with Deadline, confirmed his role in The Batman: Part II. He said the upcoming superhero film is ambitious, demanding and could surprise audiences.
