Actor-director Dhanush's much-awaited 55th film finally has a title. The makers on Thursday unveiled Om as the official title of the actor's upcoming collaboration with director Rajkumar Periasamy, while also announcing that the film will release in theatres on October 16.
While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, the title announcement teaser offers a glimpse into the film's world. The promo features burning vehicles, large-scale protests, stock market visuals and Indian currency notes raining from the sky, hinting at a high-stakes action drama rooted in themes of power, money and revolution.
Previously referred to as D55, the film stars Dhanush alongside Sai Pallavi and Mammootty in pivotal roles. Sreeleela, who made her Tamil debut with Parasakthi (2026), and veteran actor Indrans are also part of the ensemble cast.

Om marks Dhanush's first collaboration with Rajkumar Periasamy, who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Amaran. The 2024 film starred Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award.
The film also reunites Rajkumar Periasamy with Sai Pallavi after Amaran, in which she portrayed Major Mukund's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. For Dhanush and Sai Pallavi, Om marks their reunion after Maari 2, while Mammootty returns to Tamil cinema for the first time since Peranbu (2018).
Produced by Dhanush under his home banner, Wunderbar Films, in association with Shraddha Agrawal's R Take Studios, Om boasts a technical crew featuring composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Ezhil Arasu, editor Kalaivanan, choreographer Sandy and stunt director Yannick Ben.
Dhanush was last seen in Kara, directed by Por Thozhil filmmaker Vignesh Raja. His upcoming slate also includes a biopic on former President APJ Abdul Kalam and another based on the life of legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja.
