Poor audio, poop-covered seats: Angry Ilaiyaraaja fans allege concert mismanagement

Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja brought the symphony experience to Chennai by performing his first-ever symphony, Valiant, at the Nehru Outdoor Stadium in Chennai on May 30. On Sunday, May 31, he performed a three-hour-30-minute concert with a solid playlist of his hit songs. While a section of people enjoyed the concert, others flagged several issues ranging from poop-covered seats to terrible audio calibration and high-priced food.

The two-day concert was organised by ACTC events, the company that was earlier pulled up for the fiasco at AR Rahman's Marakkuma Nenjam concert in 2023, where several fans alleged mismanagement and some women were even molested. Angry fans of Ilaiyaraaja called out the poor facilities on X.

An X user listed out the practical difficulties that fans faced at the event. He mentioned that there were no volunteers in uniforms to guide people, small LED screens and poor audio quality. He also claimed that he had to walk out of the concert midway.

Another user claimed that the audience couldn't hear what Ilaiyaraaja spoke and, even worse, was the poop-covered seats at the venue.

The concert began with the divine Janani Janani song and included many superhit songs including Madai Thirandhu, Aanandha Ragam, Megam Kottatum, Raakama Kaiyathattu, Intha Maan, Oru Jeevan Azhaithadhu, Raja Raja Chozhan Naan, Vanithamani, Thendral Vandhu Ennai Thodum and ended with En Jodi Manja Kuruvi.
