Nelson Dilipkumar and Anirudh Ravichander reunite

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 reunites the core creative team behind the 2023 blockbuster. Composer Anirudh Ravichander also returns for the sequel, with filming having wrapped earlier this year.

The original Jailer followed Muthuvel Pandian, a retired prison warden who turns to his former underworld connections after his son is targeted. Blending action, dark comedy and stylised storytelling, the film emerged as one of the highest-grossing Tamil releases of 2023 and cemented its place as one of the year's biggest commercial successes.

Expanded cast aims for pan-India appeal

The sequel is set to raise the stakes with a significantly expanded ensemble cast. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise their cameo appearances, while the makers have brought in several prominent names from Hindi cinema to widen the film's reach across regional markets.
