Dulquer Salmaan beams with PM Modi after father Mammootty's Padma Bhushan honour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met actor Mammootty and his family after the Padma ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Malayalam icon was honoured with Padma Bhushan in Delhi on June 23.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a bunch of pictures on social media and congratulated actor Mammootty for being honoured with Padma Bhushan today. Held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the actor was accompanied by his family, including son Dulqar Salmaan, daughter-in-law Amal Sufiya, daughter Surumi and wife Sulfath Kutty.
PM Modi shared the pictures after the ceremony on Instagram and wrote, “Met the noted actor Mammootty and his family after the Padma ceremony earlier today (sic).”

Other than the Malayalam icon, playback singer Alka Yagnik was also conferred with the Padma Bhushan during the ceremony. The veteran singer, who has been battling hearing loss in recent years, was assisted to the stage by an usher. Before receiving the honour, Alka greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seated in the front row, and sought his blessings by touching his feet.
The list of recipients also included actor-filmmaker R Madhavan, who was awarded the Padma Shri. The actor also shared a moment with PM Modi before stepping onto the stage to receive the honour.
This year, the President approved 131 Padma Awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.

Mammootty,74, began his acting journey with a credited role in the Malayalam film Vilkkanundu Swapnangal (1980) before steadily rising through the ranks with a series of memorable performances.
