Ravi Kishan’s Bhojpuri action film Dhurandhar: The Shooter is seeing an unexpected surge in popularity, more than a decade after its release. The 2013 film is finding a fresh audience online, with clips and references going viral across social media platforms after the success of Ranveer Singh’s megahit film Dhurandhar.
As viewers return to the Bhojpuri film in large numbers, Ravi Kishan has described it as another unexpected turn in a career that has moved across Bhojpuri cinema, Hindi films, television and politics.
Speaking to NDTV, Ravi Kishan said such exciting twists and turns keep happening in his life. He recalled making a film called Dhurandhar and said it was a different kind of film and a different genre altogether, even though it was a Bhojpuri project. He said the film had its own scale and budget, and added that people have now suddenly started watching his Dhurandhar in large numbers. He thanked viewers for the response.
Keeping the mood light, the actor also joked that the producer who owns the rights to that film must have suddenly become a millionaire.
Released in 2013, Dhurandhar: The Shooter featured Ravi Kishan in the lead role and was mounted as a commercial Bhojpuri action entertainer. While the film had its own audience at the time of release, its present-day resurgence has taken many by surprise.
