Vijay's Jana Nayagan yet to receive censor board clearance: Source
Sources close to Vijay's Jana Nayagan said the film is still awaiting CBFC clearance despite reports of an A certificate. The release date will be announced only after certification, even as speculation over a late July release continues.

Contrary to reports that Vijay's Jana Nayagan has already received an A certificate, sources close to the film told India Today that it is yet to be cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification.
A source close to the film said the team was still waiting for the clearance and expected it by next week. 'We are still awaiting the clearance, which is expected to come by next week. As of now all the buzz around it getting A certificate is nothing but speculations. We are hopeful to get it soon, and post which we will announce the release date,' the source said.
Earlier, NDTV had reported that Jana Nayagan had been granted an A certificate, subject to certain cuts, by the CBFC on Wednesday, citing sources. The report also said the edit list was expected to be uploaded on the CBFC website either today or on Monday, while the final certificate was likely to be issued next week.
According to reports, the makers are aiming to release the film on July 16. If the timeline changes, July 23 is reportedly being considered as the backup date. July 31 is also under discussion, although its chances appear uncertain since Jason Sanjay's directorial debut, Sigma, is slated to hit theatres on the same day.
What led to Jana Nayagan's delay?
The film's certification was put on hold after a member of the censor board reportedly raised objections to certain scenes, claiming they could offend public sentiment. There were also unverified reports suggesting that portions of the film might benefit Vijay's political campaign, as its release was planned just three months before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where he is set to make his electoral debut as the leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Following the objections, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommended that the film be referred to its revising committee. In response, the makers, KVN Productions, approached the Madras High Court, seeking directions to fast-track the certification process. The move resulted in a legal battle between the production house and the CBFC that lasted for nearly a month.
The producers eventually withdrew their petition and agreed to submit the film to the revising committee. However, Jana Nayagan is yet to receive censor clearance, and the reason for the continued delay remains unclear.
