Meerut man's grief act exposed as murder plot

A Meerut man who dramatically broke down in public over his wife’s murder was later suspected to be the killer himself, police said.

According to investigators, Saqib allegedly killed his wife, Kausar, after she confronted him over an alleged extramarital affair. Police claim he slit her throat with a paper cutter while she was asleep and then tried to stage the crime as a robbery. However, inconsistencies in his statements and forensic evidence raised suspicion during questioning. Police say Saqib later confessed to the crime. Further investigation is underway.
