Nagpur family allegedly robbed after AI-generated WhatsApp statuses misled accused

A family in Nagpur was allegedly targeted in a robbery after AI-generated WhatsApp status videos made them appear extremely wealthy. Police say the accused believed the videos were real and planned the crime, assuming the family kept large amounts of cash and jewellery at home.

According to investigators, around ₹4 lakh in cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹4.5 lakh were allegedly stolen. The victim later received a ransom call demanding ₹40 lakh, while police also found that a mobile phone had allegedly been hidden inside his motorcycle to track his movements.

Police have arrested two accused and are continuing their investigation into the case.
