This Looks Like Crude Oil: Delhi Families Struggle With Dirty Water, Empty Taps

“This literally looks like crude oil, and the smell is terrible.” That is how residents of Delhi’s Dakshinpuri describe the water coming from their taps. In this low-income neighbourhood, taps have run dry, forcing many to buy expensive private tankers or survive on whatever little water they can store. Women and elderly residents are bearing the brunt as temperatures cross 45°C.
