From export surplus and factory rejects to unsold stock and second-hand garments imported from countries around the world, we uncover how these clothes make their way to India. We also document how they are sorted, packed, ironed, retagged, and supplied to markets across the country.

During our investigation, traders claim that many garments are sold without being washed and that brand tags can be attached before they reach retailers. We also follow the global supply chain—from collection abroad to Indian ports, Panipat warehouses, and finally, the racks of India's most famous street markets.
