Bikaner health crisis: Rajasthan Minister's 'singing-dancing' remark sparks outrage

Rajasthan's medical infrastructure is under scrutiny as five women who recently gave birth are battling kidney failure at a government hospital in Bikaner, prompting an investigation into the causes, including potential drug contamination. The patients, currently in intensive care and on dialysis, suffered from infections and low platelet counts following both normal and caesarean deliveries. The hospital principal attributed the complications to severe dehydration caused by the extreme heat. However, when reporters asked Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar about how those women's condition deteriorated hours after delivery, to which he said they were admitted in a serious condition and "did not come dancing and singing". The insensitive remark has sparked a row. The state opposition chief condemned the minister's remarks and demanded his removal. Families of the affected women continue to await answers as questions regarding the state's maternal healthcare infrastructure and administrative accountability remain unresolved.
