Govt admits E20 petrol mileage dip, rubber part wear in BS-III vehicles

The government has admitted that vehicles using E20 petrol suffer a slight mileage drop, with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari telling Parliament that ARAI tests show a two-to-six percent reduction in fuel efficiency. He also said E20 may affect rubber components in pre-2016 BS-III vehicles.

The statement came amid other developments in Parliament, including a controversy over remarks on Indian Institute of Technology Madras Director V. Kamakoti and debates on the Anti-Paper Leak Amendment Bill. CCTV footage from a July 20 protest near Parliament reportedly exposed Delhi Police security lapses, while Mumbai civic leaders faced criticism over a proposal to replace SUVs with luxury vehicles. Student protests over school infrastructure continued in Bihar, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.
