Vijay, the popular 50-year-old Tamil actor, addressed his first rally on Sunday since launching his Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party eight months, focusing his attacks on DMK and the BJP. He slammed the DMK, calling it a 'dynastic selfish family', which was "looting" the people of the state through underground dealings. He also described the BJP as his party's ideological enemy, asserting that it promotes divisiveness.

With the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu two years away, Vijay's TVK is keen to contest the election. Can he disrupt the bipolar dominance of DMK and AIADMK and create a mark in the state's star-studded political discourse?
