Gandhi demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation, triggering sharp exchanges in the House. Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Dr Jitendra Singh rejected the allegations, although official Rapid Action Force records referred to the deployment of plastic pellets. Amid the heated debate, the Lok Sabha passed the Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Amendment Bill, 2026, by voice vote, prescribing up to ten years’ imprisonment and fines of Rs 10 crore for exam-related offences.
