Mahto, who has been admitted to a hospital, told Sardesai that the protests will not go down despite the Hemant Soren government's alleged coercive measures, including disrupting the power supply at the protest site.
"Whatever the government does, the movement will continue,” he said.
He also rejected the suggestion that the protest was aimed specifically at Chief Minister Hemant Soren or his ministers. “First of all, this is an agitation against the government. But it is a fight against the system,” Mahato said.
He argued that since the government was responsible for the functioning of the system, any failure to address irregularities would lead to protests against the government.
“If the government fails to fix the system, we will raise slogans against the government,” he said.
The video also focuses on the ongoing Parliament logjam. Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he had been coming to Parliament from the first day and the government is ready to hold a discussion over the student protest-related issues. He also urged the Opposition for a debate. However, the Opposition MPs rejected the proposal and sought his resignation over the alleged police violence against protesting students.
