Madhya Pradesh land deal row: Shouldn't CM Mohan Yadav come clean?

A political slugfest has erupted over allegations that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's extended family acquired 137 plots of land in Ujjain, allegedly benefiting from subsequent road projects and land use changes. An India Today investigation reveals that while the immediate family's landholdings remained largely unchanged, the extended family made significant purchases. The BJP dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and defended the Chief Minister, pointing out that the Ujjain Master Plan was implemented before he assumed office. In response to the Congress party's demand for accountability, the BJP launched a counter-charge against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's family over a five-acre land allotment in Karnataka for aerospace research. Congress leaders, including Priyank Kharge, have denied the allegations, defending the land allotment. The controversy has sparked a broader debate over conflict of interest and political propriety, with both parties demanding investigations into the respective land deals.
