Political showdown in Delhi: Govt-Congress lock horns over CJP protest crackdown

A massive political showdown erupted in the national capital over the medical entrance examination paper leak controversy. Following clashes between student protesters and law enforcement, opposition leaders staged a demonstration outside the prime ministerial residence, demanding the immediate resignation of the education minister and a dedicated parliamentary debate.

Law enforcement personnel subsequently detained several prominent opposition figures after negotiations with a union minister failed to break the deadlock. The detained politicians were released after a few hours. During a television broadcast, a spokesperson for the primary opposition party condemned the police action against students and politicians, dismissing allegations from a regional political party regarding a secret understanding with the ruling dispensation.

Conversely, a ruling party parliamentarian defended the government's handling of the situation, asserting that the administration remains committed to addressing student grievances while maintaining law and order. The parliamentarian also emphasised that the administration respects the position of the opposition leadership, despite the ongoing parliamentary disruptions.
