The government has initiated plans for a full restructuring of the National Testing Agency (NTA) following widespread paper leak controversies and administrative issues in national competitive examinations. A cabinet meeting addressed system accountability, including retrenchment plans for 47 Education Ministry officials and structural modifications to examination outsourcing methods based on expert recommendations.
While the Education Secretary has been replaced, sources report Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will remain in office. Simultaneously, demonstrations organised by Abhijeet Dipke and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) continued at Jantar Mantar, where protesters raised concerns over youth unemployment, police action, and systemic examination failures.
Demonstrators demanded Minister Pradhan's resignation, rejecting fast-track courts as a sole remedy. Free legal aid stalls were established at the protest site for individuals affected by law enforcement action, while medical records documented injuries from recent enforcement crackdowns. Additionally, the Chief Justice of India clarified that formal petitions regarding alleged law enforcement excesses during demonstrations will be processed through standard judicial procedures.
