Punjab Congress revolt deepens; INDIA bloc moves Supreme Court over SIR

An internal rebellion has erupted within the Punjab Congress unit following an organisational reshuffle ahead of the state assembly elections. Loyalists of the former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi are protesting the retention of the state party president, demanding leadership changes. Legislators have raised grievances, while senior members of parliament express discontent over being sidelined from election committees. Simultaneously, twenty-three political parties from the opposition alliance have approached the Supreme Court, raising concerns over the electoral process and alleging bias within the election commission. In a formal letter, the alliance demanded a halt to the special intensive revision exercise, alleging selective deletion of voters from minority communities, and advocated for a return to paper ballots. Additionally, the technology ministry has issued notices to smartphone operating systems to remove seven applications responsible for disabling electronic rickshaw batteries.
