Keir Starmer resigns as UK PM; Switzerland talks of US-Iran yields breakthrough; more

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday announced his decision to step down, citing the need to put the country's interests first amid mounting pressure from within the Labour Party. 

"Every decision I have taken is about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign," the 63-year-old leader said.

If the resignation takes effect, Starmer will become the sixth British prime minister to leave office in the past decade, underscoring the political instability and rapid leadership changes that have characterised recent years at 10 Downing Street.
