New UFO files reveal hotspot in US where mysterious glowing orbs keep returning
Declassified records show FBI agents encountered unexplained lights at a secluded US site that has puzzled witnesses for years.

Long after sunset, residents living near a remote pond in the northeastern United States say they have repeatedly seeing strange glowing lights drifting across the sky. The objects were said to hover above the water, drift through nearby trees and sometimes appear to split into multiple orbs before disappearing.
Most such reports are difficult to investigate because they happen only once. But according to the latest batch of previously classified documents released by the Pentagon on Friday, these sightings kept returning to the same location. That allowed authorities to collect videos, interview witnesses and even observe some of the unexplained lights firsthand -- bringing them closer to understanding what has puzzled residents for years.
The Pentagon released declassified files on unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs, following President Donald Trump's order to make government UFO records public.
SITE THAT CAUGHT INVESTIGATORS' ATTENTION
According to the newly released files, the sightings began in 2021 and continued over the following years.
The exact location remains undisclosed, but officials describe it as a secluded pond in the northeastern US. The site attracted attention after a resident reported repeated sightings to the FBI and provided videos showing glowing objects in the sky.
One of the earliest recordings reportedly showed a bright orb that appeared to separate into multiple lights over a period of several minutes. Other footage captured reddish-coloured spheres hovering together above the landscape.
The resident told investigators that the objects sometimes appeared as close as 200 yards from his home.
According to an FBI report, cited by the New York Post, the lights were observed in different locations around the property, including above the horizon, near trees and over the water.
FBI AGENTS SEE STRANGE LIGHTS
The case took a new turn when FBI agents visited the property in late 2024. According to the files, investigators witnessed unusual lights during their visit.
A "white light" was observed that "danced around (for) less than ten seconds, moving side to side, and then disappeared," agents wrote as per the Post.
The report also describes additional lights appearing above a nearby tree line before vanishing moments later. Investigators reported seeing "plumes of broad light" followed by flashes of red and white lights that moved erratically before disappearing.
One of the more unusual observations involved a bright white light positioned above a red light near the far end of the pond. According to the report, both objects appeared to hover before moving rapidly and vanishing.
The FBI team photographed some of the activity and reviewed videos supplied by the resident. Officials said they examined possible explanations, including hoaxes and drones, but did not reach a definitive conclusion.
REPORTS OF RED ORBS
The newly released files contain several accounts that describe similar objects in the same region. One FBI report details an encounter involving a bright red sphere with what witnesses described as a glowing white centre.
One witness "described the red colour as being brilliant and beautiful, and that (redacted) had never seen anything that colour of red before," the report states.
Witnesses said the object was joined by a second orb before both moved away. Similar sightings of white orbs were later reported over the same area.
Another report linked the incident to previous sightings known as "Triangle Orbs", "Red Orb Rotation" and "Orbs Over the Pond", suggesting investigators believe the events may be connected.
MYSTERY REMAINS UNSOLVED
Despite the growing collection of reports, videos and witness accounts, authorities have not identified the source of the lights. The files do not point to any nearby military facility, classified testing ground or known technology that could explain the repeated sightings.
The latest release includes 72 files from the FBI, CIA and Pentagon. Together they provide one of the most detailed looks yet at how federal agencies investigate unexplained aerial sightings.
"These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fuelled speculation - and it's time the American people see it for themselves," Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said.
