It was a tough day for the Indian contingent at the Indonesia Open 2026 as all the big stars exited from the competition following Ayush Shetty's loss on Thursday, June 4. Ayush lost to Lee Chiuk Yiu 21-16, 13-21, 14-21 to exit in the Round of 16.

Earlier in the day, PV Sindhu suffered a defeat at the hands of World No.1 An Se Young, leaving Ayush as the only hope left for the Indian contingent. The 21-year-old started brilliantly, racing to a 4-1 lead in the first game. Lee bounced back quickly to take the lead and that started a phase where the momentum was swinging like a pendulum.

It was Ayush who took the lead heading into the break and was able to extend it to a six-point gap soon after the restart. While Lee made a comeback, the Indian ace was able to see off the challenge and secure the first game.

However, Lee found his groove in the second game, racing to an 8-2 lead. His dominance continued after the break as the Hong Kong ace didn't allow Ayush to get back into the contest and quickly wrapped the second game, pushing the match into the decider.

Ayush took a 3-0 lead in the final game, but Lee went on a six-point run , which proved to be the difference in the end. He took a 11-5 lead into the break and never showed any signs of slipping up.
