WHO IS MANAV SUTHAR?
Suthar began his first-class journey for Rajasthan in February 2022 during a match against Andhra Pradesh, claiming his maiden wicket in the format. Since making that debut, the left-arm spinning all-rounder has featured in 29 first-class contests, collecting 129 wickets while maintaining a miserly economy rate of 2.94.
His most recent red-ball outing came against Himachal Pradesh in January, where he delivered a standout all-round performance. Suthar struck a century, scoring 120 runs in Rajasthan’s first innings, and also accounted for seven wickets across the match.
With the bat, Suthar has amassed 945 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 25.54, including one century and six fifties. His contributions extend beyond the longer format as well. In 25 List A appearances, he has taken 34 wickets at an economy rate of 4.41, while his 28 T20 matches have yielded 25 wickets at 7.33 runs per over.
The 23-year-old has been viewed as a promising prospect by India’s selectors for some time. Since earning a call-up to the national team's preparatory camp ahead of the 2023 World Cup, the lower-order batting all-rounder has continued to stay firmly in contention for higher honours.
Suthar was part of the Gujarat Titans squad this season in the IPL alongside Gill and played four matches and picked two wickets.
