Vaibhav Sooryavanshi not buying into the hype, its just the start of a long journey
RR vs LSG: Following a spectacular 38-ball 93 that dismantled LSG, 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi remains incredibly grounded, brushing off the sudden media frenzy to focus purely on the long cricket journey that lies ahead of him.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has long been a launchpad for instant stardom, but few players have seen their stock rise as rapidly as 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. On Tuesday night, the teenage opener left the cricket world awestruck at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, smashing a breathtaking 38-ball 93 to lead Rajasthan Royals to a crucial seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Chasing a massive target of 221, Sooryavanshi demolished the LSG bowling attack with 10 towering sixes and seven boundaries. It was an extraordinary exhibition of raw power and hand-eye coordination that even earned him the highest praise from legendary commentator Ian Bishop on air: "He is ready."
Yet, despite reclaiming the tournament's Orange Cap with 579 runs and securing an India-A call-up, he remains completely unmoved by the hype surrounding his name.

CALCULATED CHASE, NOT IMPULSE
What makes Sooryavanshi's knock stand out is how deeply calculated it was. Faced with a steep 221-run mountain, a teenager might normally look to hit his way out of trouble immediately. Instead, the young southpaw showed a level of tactical maturity that completely belies his age, taking his time early on to assess the conditions before launching an all-out assault.
"Nothing much. I was just thinking because I was sitting outside during the bowling innings and the wicket looked good," Sooryavanshi revealed in his post-match interview. "I was thinking that today I shouldn’t rush too much at the start, I should take some time and if I bat for a longer period, it’s going to help the batter at the other end as well."
Even after a quieter start, he reached his half-century in the blink of an eye, eventually going on to plunder 29 runs in a single over against India’s fastest bowling asset, Mayank Yadav.
"That was the mindset," he added. "I know I can hit two or three boundaries or sixes anytime, so I can take a little more time and not rush too much and try to take the game till the end."
"I just think that this is only the start. If my career becomes long and I play for a long time, people will say many more things."
BLOCKING OUT THE NOISE
With great performances comes immense public scrutiny, but Sooryavanshi has already figured out how to preserve his peace of mind. He has built a metaphorical firewall around his cricket, completely ignoring the newspapers and social media praise that typically derail young prodigies.
"Nothing much. I don’t really see too much, I don’t read newspapers and all, so I don’t think too much about it," he said with absolute calm. "I just think that this is only the start. My focus should just remain on the game and I should complete my journey."
Even his on-field celebrations, which have captured the imagination of fans across the country, are entirely unscripted and free of vanity.
"Sir, I don’t know. I just do something new every match. I don’t really plan it. There’s no meaning behind it," he admitted. "Even the celebration I did in the last match had no meaning. I just keep trying new things."
ONE FINAL STEP FOR THE PLAYOFFS
Thanks to his blistering 93 and a steady, unbeaten 53 from Dhruv Jurel, Rajasthan Royals have successfully kept their playoff dreams alive, moving up to 14 points on the table.
With one final league game remaining against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, the equation is clear. The team will need a victory to seal their spot in the top four, but Sooryavanshi insists the dressing room is keeping things entirely uncomplicated.
"Nothing much. Our focus is just that we should enjoy ourselves," he concluded. "In the next game also we shouldn’t focus too much on off-field things. Everyone should focus on the game and play with enjoyment, the way we’ve been doing throughout the tournament."
