20:02 IST:
Onto the series decider - It's been a tour to forget for Bangladesh across formats, but this win should give the camp a real lift heading forward. For Zimbabwe, the belief will be that one bad day at the office is no reason to hit the panic button. But they have a lot to improve on, especially after a torrid day fielding-wise. With the scoreline locked at 1-1, the decider promises to be a fitting finale to what's been a cracking series so far. Bulawayo hosts the third and final T20I on Sunday, July 19, with the first ball set for 10.30 am GMT. Do join us well before that for all the buildup. Until then, cheers!
19:51 IST:
The victorious captain of Bangladesh - Towhid Hridoy, about his team's performance, says that both their department, bowling and batting, did really well to show their level, so he is very happy with his team's performance today. In the first innings, Hridoy says that they focused on creating a strong partnership and work on it. In the second innings, he says that the bowlers did well to attack the opposition batters from the first over, which is why they were able to chip in some wickets inside the Powerplay. About concerns of Nahid Rana's injury, he states that it is looking fine and we should expect him to play the final match of the series.
20:02 IST:
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - MOHAMMAD SAIFUDDIN receives the award for an all-round show in the match. He played a superb cameo of 31 off 10 balls towards the backend of the first innings. And also picked up a wicket in his spell. On his immediate thoughts, begins by giving thanks to the Almighty, saying it's been a while since he last picked up a Player of the Match award in T20 cricket. He adds the win also brings Bangladesh level in the series, and he's clearly delighted with how things have gone. When asked what turned the match Bangladesh's way, he credits the openers first, saying they set the perfect tone at the top. He also praises the bowling unit, singling out Mahedi and Rishad for how well they bowled through the innings. On preparation coming into the game, he says there were plenty of discussions around adjusting to the conditions, pointing out the contrast between the winter chill here and the heat back home. He admits the adjustment wasn't easy early in the tour, but notes the batters finally got it right today.
20:01 IST:
The captain of Zimbabwe - Sikandar Raza reflects on the defeat. He admits he read the pitch wrongly at the start. He says the ball clearly turned in the first few overs, with even the seamers extracting some bounce off a slow surface, and adds they expected the pitch to ease out for batting before it started gripping more. When asked to sum up the overall performance, he doesn't hold back. He calls himself genuinely embarrassed as captain, and says the fielding had a direct ripple effect on the batting that followed. He credits the bowlers, though, saying that barring the final over, they did an excellent job, restricting Bangladesh to around 158-159 after 19 overs despite the catches going down, which he calls a tremendous effort in itself. He adds that the poor fielding eventually bled into the batting, and that's what shaped the result. On Bangladesh's opening stand, Raza says Zimbabwe never felt the game had slipped away, fielding lapses aside. He notes it wasn't a surface where batters could simply walk in and start swinging, and details that the new batters needed time to settle, and that's exactly why Bangladesh lost wickets in clusters. It was the final over, he says, that ultimately took the game beyond them. Speaking on that costly last over, he calls it a consequence of the fielding through the innings rather than a one-off. He highlights that there were a couple of good deliveries mixed with a couple of poor ones, and points out that Zimbabwe even shelled a catch off the final ball, which he says sums up how poor the fielding was on the day. He admits that conceding close to 30 runs in that over made the chase far tougher but adds that even a target of around 165 wouldn't have changed his view, given how his side fielded. Ends by bluntly stating that that Zimbabwe simply didn't deserve to win this one.
19:47 IST:
... Time for the post-match Presentation ...
19:47 IST:
The difference maker - There's no taking away from how well Bangladesh hunted as a pack, executing their plans to near perfection. The two frontline spinners, Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain, shared seven wickets between them, with the pacers chipping in when needed. But as the old saying goes, catches win matches. Zimbabwe shelled six or seven chances across the game, while Bangladesh didn't let a single one slip through their hands. In the end, that was the difference that mattered most.
19:44 IST:
Lost the steam - Bangladesh carried every bit of that momentum into their defence, and their new-ball attack made it count in style. Zimbabwe were badly dented inside the powerplay, reduced to 21 for 3, their top three gone with the wind. It took them a staggering 14.4 overs to log their first breakthrough with the ball, and with the bat, the middle order offered precious little support. The likes of Raza and Ryan Burl offered brief resistance along the way, and Brad Evans provided one last flicker with a quick-fire surge to keep hope alive. But it was too little too late by then, and his dismissal simply pulled the curtains down on the chase.
19:40 IST:
Drops, chaos, recovery - Zimbabwe's day in the field was a mess from ball one, catches going down all over the park as Bangladesh raced to a 120-run opening stand. Saif Hassan alone survived five drops, Tanzid one, and both punished the reprieves with half-centuries. Then the game flipped on its head. Sikandar Raza finally struck by bowling Saif, and the floodgates opened. Richard Ngarava grabbed two in an over to further press on, and Brad Evans followed up with two more to have Bangladesh in tatters. In a matter of minutes, Bangladesh went from a cushy 120 without loss to a shaky 141 for 5. Just as Zimbabwe sensed a way back in, Yasir Ali's power hitting and a blistering final over from Saifuddin, four sixes included, hauled Bangladesh to 186.
19:38 IST:
Bangladesh level it up clinically - A superb all-round bowling effort from Bangladesh there. And on the whole, this looked like a side that's stepped up its game considerably, both bat and ball firing together. Even with Nahid Rana forced off the field, unable to finish his spell because of what looked like a lower back issue, the tourists still had more than enough fire left in them to get the better of the hosts. Now cast your mind back to that final over of the first innings, the one that leaked 28 runs. Zimbabwe fall short by 34 in the end, and it's hard not to see those two numbers staring right back at each other.
19:36 IST:
19.4: Rishad Hossain to Blessing Muzarabani, OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Rishad wraps things up in style and finishes with a 4-wicket haul. BANGLADESH WIN BY 34 RUNS! And they level the series 1-1, pushing it into a decider. Full and around off. Blessing dances down the track going for the big shot, but plays all over the wrong line and the ball beats him for pace and reach, cannoning into the off stump.
19:30 IST:
19.3: Rishad Hossain to Richard Ngarava, Tossed up, full, around off. Ngarava mistimes this one too, but it drops just short of the sweeper coming in from cover, and they scamper through for a single.
19:29 IST:
19.2: Rishad Hossain to Richard Ngarava, A flighted delivery, full, and around off. Ngarava tries to heave it across the line, but gets a top edge. But luckily for him, the ball sails over the fielder at backward point, and they hustle back for a couple.
19:29 IST:
19.1: Rishad Hossain to Richard Ngarava, Appeal for stumping! Full and outside off. Ngarava clears his front leg out of the way going for the slog, but misses completely. The keeper gathers it cleanly and whips off the bails in a flash, up goes the appeal for a stumping, and it's straight upstairs to the third umpire. The replay shows Ngarava's back foot did lift off the ground, but the keeper, Nurul Hasan, is just that fraction too slow to whip the bails off, and Richard manages to drag it back in the nick of time. NOT OUT!
19:28 IST:
Well then, into the final over. Rishad Hossain (3-0-23-3) will wrap it up.

19:27 IST:
18.6: Mohammad Saifuddin to Blessing Muzarabani, Chance of a run out, missed! Full and outside off, this is punched away to cover. Blessing sets off for the single but gets sent back. There's a bit of a mix-up between the two in the middle, though they scramble through unscathed in the end as the fielder misses his shy at the batting end. The ball rolls to the leg side, but it is backed up.
19:26 IST:
18.5: Mohammad Saifuddin to Blessing Muzarabani, A bit down the leg stump, on a length. Blessing Muzarabani looks to tuck it to the leg side, but the ball grazes the thigh pad and rolls back to the keeper.
19:25 IST:
Evans falls after playing a decent cameo. Blessing Muzarabani is the last batter in with the final rites being read.
19:25 IST:
18.4: Mohammad Saifuddin to Brad Evans, OUT! CAUGHT! A stunner from Emon and Saifuddin gets the reward for his disciplined bowling. Full and around off, from around the stumps, with the pace taken off it. Evans goes deep in his crease and gets down low for the sweep, but the change of pace deceives him completely, and he can't generate the elevation he's looking for. Ends up miscuing to deep mid-wicket, where Emon sprints across to his left, throws himself airborne, and clings on tight even as he tumbles to the ground. Zimbabwe are 149/9, needing 38 runs from 10 balls.
19:23 IST:
18.3: Mohammad Saifuddin to Richard Ngarava, Short and slow, outside off. Richard Ngarava drags it across off the back foot and pulls it to widish long on for just one run. Bangladesh won't mind that at all. This is excellent death bowling from Saifuddin.
19:23 IST:
18.2: Mohammad Saifuddin to Richard Ngarava, Clever bowling! Slower one, around off and full. Richard Ngarava clears the front leg to dump that ball to Harare. Tries to smoke it over deep mid-wicket, but is undone by the lack of pace and is beaten all ends up.

19:20 IST:
17.5: Taskin Ahmed to Brad Evans, FOUR! This is turning out to be a big over. An attempted yorker on the stumps. Evans smartly moves outside off and plays the scoop shot, well over the short fine leg fielder for a boundary. 15 runs off the over with a ball to go.

19:18 IST:
17.2: Taskin Ahmed to Brad Evans, FOUR! Put away in disdain! A little bit wide from around the stumps, very full outside off. Brad Evans stays deep in the crease, gets the bat under the ball and carves it over cover, finding the gap in the deep for a boundary. 50 needed off 16 balls.

19:07 IST:

19:00 IST:
13.5: Rishad Hossain to Ryan Burl, OUT! CAUGHT! The partnership, which was looking promising, has been broken and it's none other than Rishad Hossain. A touch shorter, well outside off. Ryan Burl crouches a bit and pulls it across the line. However, the connection is not proper from the bat as it flies toward deep mid-wicket. Towhid Hridoy settles himself underneath the skier and pouches the catch safely before tumbling on the ground.

18:55 IST:
Rana is really struggling out there, clutching at the left side of his back. Oh, dear! This doesn't look good as Nahid walks off the field with the physio in tow. Bangladesh would hope it is not a serious injury. Saif Hassan will complete the remaining over.
18:52 IST:
12.3: Nahid Rana to Ryan Burl, OVERTHROWS! Sloppy, sloppy work in the field there. Back of a length, outside off, and Ryan Burl bunts it softly toward the vacant mid on area. The fielder sprints in from the deep, picks up, and fires a wild throw at the bowler's end that sails well over the stumps, forcing the bowler to duck out of the way. With no proper backup either, the ball scoots away all the way to deep backward square leg. The batters aren't complaining, as they scamper back for two more, taking four in total off what should have been a simple single.

18:51 IST:
12.2: Nahid Rana to Ryan Burl, FOUR! Streaky, but it will work for Ryan Burl. At this point, Full-length delivery, outside off. Ryan Burl frees his arms and looks to drill it toward the off side, but gets a thick inside edge and it zips past the off stump to dribble away toward the deep fine leg fence for a boundary. With that, Burl completes 2000 T20I runs!
18:47 IST:

End of a superb bowling spell from Mahedi Hasan. He finishes with figures reading 3/24 in his 4 overs. Well then, halfway reached. Zimbabwe are 81/6, and Bangladesh were 84/0 at the same stage. Zimbabwe still need 106 off 60 balls, but that climb just got a whole lot steeper with not much batting left after this. Of course, Evans and Ngarava are no mugs with the bat, but Zimbabwe would still want their recognized batters doing the bulk of the scoring at this stage. Taskin Ahmed is back on, replacing Rishad Hossain.

DRINKS BREAK! It is going nowhere for Zimbabwe at the moment as they have kept losing wickets one after the other. When the need was for settling down, they just kept going on and on for glory shots and paid the price. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been spot on with their lines and lengths and will look to land the killer blow without letting the hosts creep in with a partnership. Tashinga Musekiwa is the new batter for Zimbabwe.
18:35 IST:
9.3: Mahedi Hasan to Clive Madande, OUT! TAKEN IN THE DEEP! That's the third wicket for Mahedi Hasan. A drag-downer, right on the stumps. Clive looks to heave it away over the square leg region, but can't generate the power or the elevation needed to clear the rope, and finds Rishad waiting in the deep.

18:32 IST:

17:47 IST:
... THE RUN CHASE ...
17:51 IST:
A tough chase ahead - So 187 is the magic number for Zimbabwe to chase, but they know that would have been much lower. Their focus now shifts to nailing the Powerplay with the bat and building smartly from there. Bangladesh will look to strike early and take the game away from the hosts to find the leveler. Back in a bit with the chase.
17:52 IST:
Topsy turvy through and through - Catches win matches, they say. Zimbabwe forgot to catch anything today. Who dominated? Bangladesh, for almost the entire innings. The numbers make that obvious. A 120-run stand to open, 54 without loss inside the Powerplay, 84 and a late surge that carried them to 186/5 through Mohammad Saifuddin whirlwind cameo. Zimbabwe did find a way back, ripping out 5 wickets for 21 runs between overs 15 and 17, but just as that recovery looked complete, Mohammad Saifuddin and Yasir Ali fired back with a counterattack of their own. Bangladesh closed out with a total to be proud of, while Zimbabwe are left counting the cost of six to seven catches put down.
17:46 IST:
Let's hear it from Tanzid Hasan - Tanzid starts off saying that the wicket looked really good to bat on. Their plan was to build a strong partnership and capitalize on it, but he reckons that the way Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin batted in the death overs was very important for his team. On their approach while batting, he says that they did not try to hit the ball too hard. He even communicated with his partner to focus on building a long partnership. About the crucial finish, he says that the last two overs were very important for them to set a good total on the board and he feels like they can do the job in the next innings.
17:44 IST:
A breathless finish - Zimbabwe had clawed their way back so well through that middle phase, but that final over completely flipped the momentum, with 28 runs coming off it in a flash. It's fair to call this a forgettable outing from Evans with the ball. And it was an even more forgettable day for the hosts in the field, with six catches put down in all. Bangladesh, unsurprisingly, will be the happier side walking back into the sheds.

DRINKS BREAK! It wasn't smooth sailing for Bangladesh in the first few overs, but these two have made sure that no loose ball goes unpunished. On top of that, Zimbabwe haven't been able to convert the chances coming their way as well. They have put down four catches so far, well, three genuine ones and one that was a tough one. Both openers have cashed in on that generosity without a second thought. Zimbabwe have used 7 bowlers so far but none have managed to break through and things are looking pretty ominous for the hosts. Sikandar Raza will continue after the break.

All set to get going in the 2nd T20I in Bulawayo. The umpires and players make their way to the middle. There will be movement and variable bounce, and might settle as the game goes on. But if we keep on hitting the deck hard, we will be good. Show plenty of energy. This is the message from Sikandar Raza who has his men in a huddle before they spread out to take their fielding spots. Out walk the two Bangladeshi openers - Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan. And it will be spin to start as Brian Bennett will bowl the first over. Let's play...
16:07 IST:
PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawayo is pitchside. He first points out that the weather is pleasant in Bulawayo. Then informs that it is a fresh pitch and is nicely rolled in. Athar Ali Khan joins and mentions it is a slightly better surface and has less grass covering as compared to the previous match. Which, he reckons, should help the batters in stroke-making. But stresses that it brings a sense of responsibility, as the first six overs are going to be crucial when the seamers are most likely to find movement off the pitch. That said, he notes it puts extra onus on the batters, especially against the short ball, an area where Bangladesh have struggled and lost wickets. Handle that better, he says, and the runs will follow.  Tino suggests caution is key on such a big ground. Batters need total certainty before going big, he says, otherwise, finding the gaps for boundaries is the safer route, since risky hitting on a ground this size raises the odds of losing a wicket, and with it, putting the team in trouble.
15:46 IST:
A quick word from Tadiwanashe Marumani - Marumani says his approach up top is all about simplicity. He says the priority is making the most of the fielding restrictions early on, and if the situation demands, he's ready to take on the bowling, or otherwise, he's happy playing the support role for his partner. He adds his game is largely shaped by what the field allows, and at Queens specifically, he prefers to keep the ball on the ground rather than going aerial.
15:36 IST:
Zimbabwe (Unchanged Playing XI) - Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani (WK), Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza (C), Ryan Burl, Milton Shumba, Tashinga Musekiwa, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani.
15:55 IST:
Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy (C), Nurul Hasan (WK), Yasir Ali, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain (In for Nasum Ahmed), Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana.
15:38 IST:
The captain of Bangladesh - Towhid Hridoy, on what he would have done winning the toss, admits that they were looking to bat first, so they are happy with the toss result. Reflecting on the previous game's batting effort, he says Yasir played really well through the middle order. But stresses that Bangladesh needed a partner to stick around with him. He notes the plan going forward is simply building partnerships and holding onto them deeper into the innings. On the surface, he calls it a good wicket, but adds it still comes down to batting well on it. Ends by informing that they are going with one change as Rishad Hossain replaces Nasum Ahmed.
15:37 IST:
The captain of Zimbabwe - Sikandar Raza mentions that this is a slightly different pitch than the previous game. Notes that there is a bit of moisture on the pitch, so bowling first will surely assist their seamers with the new ball. On the previous game, he calls it an impressive all-round effort. He reckons Zimbabwe were 15-20 runs above par with the bat, and putting up a total in the 170s was a solid achievement. He adds the bowling unit was excellent behind that total, with the fielding matching the effort. When asked about the team changes, Raza informs that they are unchanged for this match. When he is asked about the bigger picture for the series, Raza says the goal is simply to keep improving and upskilling as a side. He notes world cricket is evolving fast, and Zimbabwe risk falling behind if they don't keep pace with it.
