Jannik Sinner: No better place to play tennis

To retain the title, just how does it feel to have your hands back on this wonderful trophy?

Jannik Sinner:

Yeah, amazing.

But, as Sasha did, I'd like to start with you and your whole team and family. You reached one of your main goals by winning a Grand Slam, and you made it happen in Paris. Today you were so, so close. If you keep playing like this, I'm very, very sure you're going to win this one as well.

I know another goal of yours is to become world No. 1. You're very, very close, so I have to be very careful now.

He made you work so hard for this victory. What was the key today?

Jannik Sinner:

Yeah, we both started very well, serving really well. My team and I prepared in the best possible way, so I have to thank everyone in my box for all the support.

My mum is here. I saw that she left the stadium a couple of times. Being the parent of a player isn't easy, but it's been an amazing final once again.

It always takes two players to make a great match. Sasha and I both tried to give everything we had. Of course, I'm very happy about the win, but I'm even happier about the level we both played.

You, the fans, are the reason. Honestly, there's no better place to play tennis than here. Standing on this court, you can feel the nerves on Sunday morning when you wake up because you know it's a very, very special day. You never know how many chances you'll have to come back on a Sunday like this, so I never take it for granted.

Playing in front of so many special people throughout these two weeks has been amazing. Thank you for the support. You always make me feel so welcome, and you've given me the most special feeling a tennis player can experience.

One last thing. We've had a couple of very warm days and, for the first time, no rain, which has been amazing. But I'd also like to thank all the ball girls and ball boys for everything you do. You make life on court as easy as possible.

Thanks as well to everyone behind the scenes. This truly is the most special tournament we have all year.

Thank you so much, and I'll see you all next year.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Wimbledon champion, Jannik Sinner.

Alexander Zverev: I believe I can win Wimbledon

You left your heart and soul on Centre Court for almost four hours and gave everyone a wonderful Wimbledon final. It was your first Wimbledon final here, and I know it's not the result you wanted. Can you share your thoughts?

Alexander Zverev:

Yeah. Well, first of all, Jannik, I don't really like you anymore. (Laughs.) To be fair, I've lost to you nine times in a row.

No, but first of all, congratulations to Jannik. He showed once again why he's the best player in the world. It was great to share Centre Court with you on finals weekend. It's a great honour to be here. Unfortunately, it didn't go my way, but congratulations to you first of all.

Do I keep going? I don't know how it works. Do I just keep going?

You're very welcome to keep going.

Alexander Zverev:

Also, congratulations to Jannik's team, who have been with him for many years. You guys are world No. 1 now, but you started outside the top 10 and worked your way to becoming Grand Slam champions and world No. 1. It's definitely a team effort, and I think Jannik is the first one to admit that. Congratulations to all of you. You really deserve it.

To my team, we had a pretty good two months, I would say, even though we lost this final. Actually, we had an amazing two months. We came into Wimbledon having never reached the quarterfinals, and now we've played our first Wimbledon final.

At 29 years old, this is the first time I actually believe I can win this trophy. So thank you to you guys as well.

I'd also like to thank the crowd for these two amazing weeks. Every time I played, the court was full, and I've never felt support like that at Wimbledon before. I really appreciate it. You were a big part of why I made it to the final, so thank you very much.

Unfortunately, this guy will be back as well. (Laughs.)

One more thing. It's very special to play on Centre Court, and that's also because of the Royal Box. The number of special people I see there for every match, especially for the final, is incredible.

It's a great honour to play in front of you, Your Highness, and in front of everybody else as well. I think it's the most unique court in the world, and the Royal Box makes it even more special. It's a massive honour to play on this court. Thank you.

I'm sure everyone would like to join in wishing you all the very best for the rest of the season. Ladies and gentlemen, your Wimbledon runner-up, Alexander Zverev.
