Anthropic H-1B visa employees salary details leak: Rs 11 crore base pay and more
Anthropic's H-1B filings have revealed some of the most extreme salary figures in the AI industry, with a few employees earning over $1 million in base pay. The highest compensation reaches $1.38 million, showing the intense competition for top technical talent.

The race to hire top AI talent is getting more expensive, and newly surfaced salary data offers a glimpse into just how much companies are willing to pay. Fresh US federal filings related to H-1B visa sponsorships revealed that some employees at AI startup Anthropic are earning base salaries of more than $1 million a year, with the highest touching $1.38 million (around Rs 11 crore).
The figures come from H-1B visa filings reviewed by Business Insider. These documents only disclose base salaries offered to foreign workers and do not include stock options, bonuses or other benefits, which can add substantially to an employee's total compensation.
Two employees earn over Rs 11 crore in base salary
The salary disclosures show that Anthropic is paying some of the highest base salaries seen in the AI industry. Among the H-1B filings, two employees stand out with annual base pay exceeding $1 million. One has been offered $1.12 million, while another is set to receive $1.38 million (around Rs 11 crore).
Both employees are identified only as "Member of Technical Staff," which is a designation Anthropic uses across multiple technical positions. Now, because of this, the filings do not reveal whether these individuals are AI researchers, senior engineers or leaders overseeing technical teams.
The data comes from nearly 80 H-1B visa positions that Anthropic received certification for during the first half of the US fiscal year 2026. Although these government filings only disclose fixed salaries and not stock grants, bonuses or other incentives, they still offer a rare look at how aggressively the company is investing in talent.
The timing is notable as competition for AI experts continues to intensify. Companies including Meta, Google and OpenAI have all been competing for experienced engineers and researchers, often with compensation packages worth millions of dollars. Anthropic also has another advantage in attracting employees. Following its reported $965 billion valuation in May, stock options held by many employees could now be worth far more than when they first joined the company.
The filings also show that high salaries are not limited to a handful of top engineers. Depending on experience and responsibilities, Members of Technical Staff are offered anywhere between $133,952 and $1.38 million in base pay. Managers in the same category can earn up to $850,000, while Reinforcement Learning Researchers are offered between $112,778 and $500,000.
Strong pay packages extend to other departments as well. Product Design Managers can receive as much as $385,000, Product Operations roles go up to $500,000, and positions across finance, legal, accounting, partnerships, marketing, research operations and technical sales also carry six-figure salaries, with several topping out at $500,000.
The report further notes that Anthropic, along with OpenAI and Nvidia, increased its H-1B visa applications during a period when several large technology companies reduced theirs. The trend suggests that AI companies remain willing to hire globally as they continue searching for specialised talent.
