Buying Apple's top-end iPhone has become a little more affordable, thanks to a new discount offer available in India. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, which usually sees very few price cuts this soon after launch, is now selling at a lower price on Reliance Digital's online store. Buyers can also claim an instant bank discount, taking the total savings to more than Rs 10,000 for the base model.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max with 256GB storage in the Cosmic Orange colour is currently listed at Rs 1,42,490 on Reliance Digital, down from its launch price of Rs 1,49,900. This gives buyers a direct discount of Rs 7,410.

The offer becomes even better with eligible bank cards. Customers using SBI, ICICI or Axis Bank credit cards can get an additional instant discount of Rs 3,000 on non-EMI transactions. With this, the effective price comes down to Rs 1,39,490, translating into a total benefit of Rs 10,410.

Reliance Digital is also offering bigger savings on EMI purchases. Depending on the bank and payment option, the total benefit can go beyond Rs 6,000 over the flat discount. As these promotional offers are generally available only for a limited period, interested buyers may want to check the deal before it ends.

Is the iPhone 17 Pro a better value?

Even after the discount, the Pro Max remains one of Apple's most expensive smartphones. For many users, the iPhone 17 Pro could be the more sensible option.

Both models are powered by Apple's A19 Pro chipset and offer a similar camera experience along with flagship-level performance. The biggest differences are the display size and battery capacity.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a large 6.9-inch screen and delivers longer battery life, making it a good choice for users who watch a lot of videos or play games. However, it weighs 233 grams, which some people may find bulky for everyday use.

The regular iPhone 17 Pro offers nearly the same experience in a smaller and lighter body. It is currently available at a much lower price via online sites.

What does the iPhone 17 Pro Max offer?

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is powered by the A19 Pro chip and comes with 12GB RAM. It features a 6.9-inch display, a 4,823mAh battery, support for 40W wired charging, three 48-megapixel rear cameras and an 18-megapixel front-facing camera.

Compared to the previous-generation model, Apple has improved the display with a brighter panel and a better anti-glare coating for improved outdoor visibility. The company has also added a vapour chamber cooling system to help maintain performance during demanding tasks.

Photography remains one of the biggest strengths of the device. All three rear cameras now use 48-megapixel sensors, while the upgraded telephoto camera is designed to capture sharper and more detailed shots. Video recording performance also continues to be among the best available on a smartphone.

Battery life has also improved over the previous model, and charging speeds are faster than before. However, Apple still does not bundle a charger inside the retail box.

Buyers who were already planning to purchase the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the current discount makes the deal more attractive. Those looking for a lighter phone with almost identical performance and cameras, however, may find the iPhone 17 Pro to be the better overall value.
