If Apple has any exceptional creation, it's the iPhone, which never really misses the spotlight. There’s always an anticipation among its fans about what’s coming next. And when they are launched, the colours of the iPhone become one of the major talking points. Last year, we saw Cosmic Orange for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup and Desert Titanium for the iPhone 16 Pro series. If rumours are anything to go by, this year we could see a Dark Cherry as the signature colour of the next generation iPhone 18 Pro series.

Ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro series launch, tipster Yeux1122, in a blog post on Never, revealed images of the metal frames of the purported iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apart from Dark Cherry, two more colours are shown in the blog post: Cloud Blue and Black. The leak adds weight to earlier reports suggesting Apple is working on a deep wine-like red finish for its next-generation Pro smartphones. However, the post contrasts with claims made by tipster Instant Digital, who earlier suggested that Black will be missing from the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.

What we know so far about the iPhone 18 Pro lineup

Speculations suggest that this September, we could only see three fresh variants of the iPhones — iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable, iPhone Ultra. The standard iPhone 18, along with two other models, the iPhone 18e and the iPhone 18 Air, could launch next year.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to bring significant camera improvements. Apple may introduce a variable aperture system for the main rear camera, allowing the lens to physically adjust the amount of light entering the sensor. This could help deliver better low-light photography, more natural background blur in portrait shots, and improved exposure control during video recording.

Apple is also rumoured to adopt a new three-layer stacked image sensor, which may enhance dynamic range, reduce image noise, and speed up image processing. The telephoto camera could receive a wider aperture for improved zoom performance in challenging lighting conditions, while the front-facing camera is tipped to be upgraded to 24 megapixels for sharper selfies and clearer video calls.

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be powered by Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chipset. Reports suggest the processor could be manufactured using TSMC's advanced 2nm process, potentially making it one of the most powerful smartphone chips to date.

Leaks indicate the new chip may offer up to 15 percent better performance and around 30 percent greater power efficiency compared to its predecessor. The Pro models are also rumoured to feature 12GB of RAM and a new memory packaging technology designed to improve overall speed and multitasking.

Apple is also expected to refine the display experience on the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. While the display sizes are likely to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max, the company may introduce newer LTPO+ OLED panels to offer better brightness, power efficiency, and image quality. Another notable upgrade could be a smaller Dynamic Island. According to recent leaks, Apple may reduce the size of the cut-out by around 35 per cent. However, reports suggest under-display Face ID technology is unlikely to arrive this year.

Battery life could also see a meaningful boost with the iPhone 18 Pro series. Reports indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a battery capacity between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh, making it one of the largest batteries ever used in an iPhone.
