Oppo rolls out the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro today in China, expanding its ‘Reno’ lineup. The new series succeeded the Reno 15 series, launched in China last November and made its way to India at the beginning of January this year. This suggests that we could see the new Reno 16 series available in the Indian market in the coming days.

The Reno 16 series has been introduced alongside the flagship Oppo Pad 6 tablet. The new smartphones arrive in multiple storage configurations and colour variants. While the two devices differ in areas such as display, battery, and processor, both smartphones share the same camera setups.

Oppo Reno 16 Pro, Oppo Reno 16 specifications and features

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro features a larger 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, while the standard Reno 16 comes with a more compact 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED panel. Both share the same 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the two phones take different paths. The Reno 16 Pro is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500s, while the Reno 16 makes do with the Dimensity 8550 Super SoC, but a step below the Pro. Both phones offer up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB UFS 3.1 storage, and run on Android 16-based ColorOS 16.

Interestingly, the camera system is identical across both models. You get a triple rear setup headlined by a 200-megapixel OIS-enabled primary shooter, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto with up to 3.5x optical zoom. The front camera is a 50-megapixel shooter on both, and video recording tops out at 4K/60fps.

Battery is another area where the Pro pulls ahead — it carries a larger 7,000mAh cell compared to the Reno 16's 6,700mAh battery. Both support 80W wired fast charging, but wireless charging at 50W is exclusive to the Pro model.

Both phones feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, and an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance. The Pro is the larger and heavier of the two at 161.3176.467.86mm and 208g, while the Reno 16 is more pocketable at 151.2172.428.36mm and 191g.
