Bihar man records video of crack on bridge, then watches his phone fall into it
A man filming a crack on Bihar's Jadopur-Mangalpur bridge dropped his phone through the gap. The viral mishap has renewed attention to the structure's visible defects and upkeep.

A Bihar man trying to document a crack in a Rs 549 crore bridge ended up on social media for an entirely different reason after his mobile phone slipped through the very gap he was filming.
The incident took place on the Jadopur-Mangalpur bridge in Gopalganj, where the young man had stopped to record a video highlighting a visible crack in the structure.
The Jadopur-Mangalpur bridge, which connects Gopalganj and Bettiah, was built at a cost of Rs 549 crore and completed in March 2016. It was inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
In a clip that is now circulating widely on social media, he was seen attempting to demonstrate the size of the gap by lowering a brick into it while recording on his phone.
However, the plan quickly backfired. As he leaned in to capture the crack more closely, his mobile phone slipped from his hand and disappeared through the opening beneath the bridge. The unexpected moment was caught on camera, turning what was meant to be a video about the bridge's condition into a viral social media clip.

The phone was later recovered from underneath the bridge. Meanwhile, footage of the mishap has been widely shared online, with several users finding humour in the irony of a man losing his phone while trying to expose a structural flaw.
The incident also led to users pointing towards the condition of the bridge itself. With visible defects now being discussed online less than a decade after its inauguration, questions have once again been raised about the bridge's construction quality and long-term maintenance.
While the young man's phone may have been recovered, the viral video has put the spotlight back on the structural concerns that prompted him to start filming in the first place.
