Chennai woman never gave up on Cognizant. Four years later, she got the job

Maheshwari Mohan, a senior process executive based in Chennai, recently shared her journey of joining Cognizant, a company she had aspired to work for since her college days.
According to her post, the dream first slipped away in 2022 during a campus placement drive.
"I got rejected by Cognizant during my college campus drive. I cried the whole night for not selected in Cognizant," she wrote.
The rejection hit hard because the company had long been at the top of her wish list.
"That was 2022. Cognizant was my dream company and I always wanted to be a Cognizant employee from the day I got rejected.
I thought that was it. Dream over."
But Maheshwari was not ready to give up. In June 2023, she attended a walk-in drive at Cognizant and made it all the way to the final round. Unfortunately, the result was the same.
"Reached the Final round. Rejected again.
I questioned everything. 'Maybe I'm not good enough for Cognizant.'"
While the second rejection was disappointing, it ultimately pushed her towards another opportunity. In November 2023, she joined HCLTech, a move she now describes as a turning point in her career.
"HCLTech happened. Best thing ever. I learned, I grew and my turning point of my career happened here."
Yet, she admits that the desire to work at Cognizant never completely disappeared.
"But deep down, Cognizant was still that 'what if' in my head."
Then came an unexpected call in April 2026. A recruiter reached out regarding an RTA role at Cognizant. This time, things were different.
"I cleared every round of interviews and selected in Cognizant."
By June 2026, Maheshwari had officially joined the company she had spent years trying to get into.
"4 years late. But 10x more ready than my fresher self in 2022," she wrote.
