Gujarat man stands neck-deep on waterlogged road, reveals scenes residents woke up to

A man from Gujarat stepped into neck-deep floodwater outside his home to show just how badly his residential society had been fwaterlogged after heavy rainfall.

Instagram user Shivam Singh, who works at Bandhan Bank in Valsad, Gujarat, shared the video on his account, documenting the alarming flooding that had submerged roads in his housing society.

In the video, Singh first turned the camera towards himself, revealing that he was standing in water that had risen almost to his neck. Surrounded by murky floodwater, he calmly addressed the camera before panning it around to show the extent of the flooding across the society.

Roads had completely disappeared beneath the water, with only the tops of boundary walls, parked vehicles and buildings remaining visible above the surface.

Pointing towards the submerged surroundings, he said, "This is my society, and it seems like a new river has been inaugurated here. It is currently seven in the morning," using humour to emphasise the severity of the situation.

The clip showed floodwater stretching across the entire residential area, making it impossible to distinguish the road from the surrounding landscape.

The video came as parts of Gujarat had been witnessing intense monsoon showers, leading to widespread waterlogging in several districts and disrupting normal life in many residential neighbourhoods.
