Living alone in Gurgaon isn't exactly known for being affordable. Yet a 25-year-old woman has sparked a conversation online after revealing how she manages rent, food, travel and everyday expenses on a monthly budget of around Rs 27,000.

In a video posted on Instagram, Kangana Rai walked viewers through her monthly spending, offering a realistic glimpse into her day-to-day finances.

The biggest chunk of her budget goes towards housing. Kangana revealed that she lives in a 1RK apartment and pays Rs 13,000 in rent every month. Utility costs are relatively modest, although they fluctuate with the season. "My electricity bill comes to around Rs 1,000, sometimes Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,300 because it is also very hot in Gurgaon," she explained.

Getting around the city costs her approximately Rs 3,500 a month. She relies largely on bike taxis for commuting to work and coaching classes, while also maintaining an Uber One subscription worth about Rs 150.

Kangana also factors in internet and entertainment expenses. Her broadband connection costs roughly Rs 700 a month, while subscriptions to platforms such as Spotify, YouTube and Netflix add another Rs 700.

Food expenses are carefully planned. Rather than cooking daily, she subscribes to a tiffin service that provides lunch and dinner for Rs 3,300 a month. She also spends around Rs 700 on breakfast staples such as muesli and milk.

One expense she refuses to compromise on is coffee. "I need at least one cup of coffee every day. It gets me going," she said, estimating her monthly coffee bill at around Rs 1,500.

Additional spending includes around Rs 2,000 for occasional outings, street food and miscellaneous purchases, along with Rs 1,000 set aside for toiletries and personal care products.

Kangana admitted that balancing savings and EMIs remains a challenge. "I do not earn enough to manage both comfortably every month," she said.

The video quickly attracted attention online, with many viewers praising her budgeting skills and asking for details about her affordable accommodation and tiffin service. Others compared her expenses with their own monthly budgets, turning the comments section into a larger discussion about the realities of living independently in Gurgaon.
