An Indian family has been accused of harassing the staff and damaging the property of a restaurant in Vietnam after employees asked them to stop their children from throwing tissue papers around the dining area.

The CCTV footage of the incident was shared on Instagram by Aishwarya Khanna Singh, owner of Bombay Bites, an Indian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. She alleged that the incident began after staff politely asked the family to stop their children from throwing tissues around the dining area.

The clip began with children at a table picking up tissue paper holders and throwing tissues across the restaurant. Moments later, they were also seen grabbing plates and drinking glasses from the table and tossing them onto the floor.

As the situation escalated, a man, believed to be the children's father, was seen gesturing angrily towards restaurant staff while shouting. He was also seen picking up glasses from a nearby table and smashing them onto the floor.

One visibly distressed staff member walked away and threw his cap to the ground as the man and a woman, believed to be the children's mother, moved towards him. The man appeared to shove the employee, while the woman was also seen pushing the staff member as others stepped in to separate the parties and calm the situation.

In the caption, Aishwarya wrote that instead of obliging the staff, the property was damaged, staff members were disrespected and harassed and responsibility was avoided under the claim of being an "influencer."

Stressing that "a restaurant is not a playground," the owner said hospitality was their responsibility, but "basic decency is everyone's responsibility," adding that respect for staff, public property and shared spaces was non-negotiable.

The video prompted widespread criticism online, with many users blaming the parents for setting a poor example for their children.

Several said that instead of teaching values such as respect and discipline, the adults appeared to be encouraging aggressive behaviour by confronting the staff alongside their children.

Others described the family's behaviour as uncivilised, arguing that people who treat restaurant staff this way should face consequences. Many also expressed concern about the children, saying they feared the kind of values they would grow up with if such behaviour was normalised at home.

Some users said the incident reflected a lack of civic sense, humility and respect for others, adding that these qualities mattered far more than education or outward appearances. A few also hoped the restaurant had reported the matter to local authorities and taken action against those involved.
