An Indian woman in New Zealand thought she had become the victim of a hit-and-run when she spotted a note on her parked car. What she read instead has touched thousands online and become a reminder that honesty still exists.

In a now-viral Instagram video, Gupte recounted the incident, explaining that she had parked her car near her university in the morning and returned around 5 pm to find a handwritten note tucked beneath the wiper.

Recalling the moment, she admitted that seeing the words "Sorry, I hit your car" immediately made her heart sink. She assumed the damage had been caused by someone who had fled the scene. But as she continued reading, she realised the note told a very different story.

According to Gupte, the driver of a bus had accidentally hit her parked car but chose not to drive away. Instead, he left behind his name, phone number and instructions to contact the bus depot so the matter could be resolved.

Just when she thought the story had ended on a positive note, another surprise awaited her.

A complete stranger who had witnessed the accident had also left a handwritten message. Unable to ignore what had happened, the passerby found a piece of cardboard and a marker, wrote down the details of the incident and even offered to be a witness if required. The gesture ensured that Gupte would have independent proof of what had happened and would not be left to deal with the repair costs alone.

Sharing the experience, Gupte said she had expected one of the worst moments of her day but instead walked away with one of her most heartwarming experiences in New Zealand. She said the stranger's thoughtful act completely restored her faith in people.

The video has resonated widely on social media, where users praised both the bus driver for taking responsibility and the passerby for going out of their way to help someone they had never met. Many called it a reminder that integrity is often found in the smallest everyday actions, and that simple acts of honesty can leave a lasting impression long after the damage has been repaired.
