A Kolkata man claimed that a Zomato delivery partner delivered his food, photographed it as proof, marked the order complete and then walked away with the meal himself.

The claim, backed by CCTV footage shared online, has sparked fresh debate around delivery verification and customer trust on food delivery platforms.

The incident came to light after Sumit Chakraborty posted footage from a security camera installed near his residence. According to him, the video captured the entire sequence of events on the night of June 20, turning what seemed like a routine food delivery into something far more unusual.

The footage shows a delivery executive arriving at the building around 10:40 PM carrying a white plastic bag containing the order. He walks up to the entrance gate, places the package down and steps back.

At that point, everything appears normal.

The delivery partner then takes out his phone and clicks a photograph of the food parcel lying outside the gate, the kind of image customers typically receive as proof that their order has been delivered.

But moments later, the video takes an unexpected turn.

After allegedly uploading the image and marking the order as delivered on the app, the man is seen returning to the gate, picking up the same package and leaving the premises with it.

Chakraborty claims he never received the food and only discovered what had happened after reviewing the CCTV footage. He later shared the clip online, alleging that the delivery executive had falsely completed the delivery while taking the order away.

The customer said he has submitted the footage to the company and sought a full investigation, refund and strict action if the allegations are found to be true.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, with many users expressing shock at the alleged incident. Several people also shared their own experiences with food delivery mishaps.

“A new fraud is running,” one user claimed, alleging that a delivery executive had once asked him to cancel an order midway before becoming unreachable.

Another commented, “Happened two weeks back with Swiggy. My bad luck that I didn’t have CCTV.”

As the clip continues to circulate online, many users are calling for stronger delivery verification systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
