Man rejects Bumble date, she turns up unannounced at his house with a letter

A man’s unsettling experience after rejecting a woman he met on a dating app has gone viral after he shared how she showed up at his house unannounced and left a handwritten note on his doorstep.
The man, 28, shared his story in a post titled “Date showed up at my house unannounced and left a note” on Reddit’s r/Bumble community as he detailed the bizarre encounter.
It all began after the man matched with a 30-year-old woman named Ruth on Bumble. Both bonded over shared interests such as fitness, movies and other activities, and soon agreed to meet in person.
They met the following evening for coffee and a workout session at his gym. He picked her up, and the date initially seemed to go well.
However, he said a few details during their conversation made him reconsider pursuing things further. He learned that the woman had used a different name on her dating profile because she was not fluent in English and had listed her middle name instead. He also noticed photographs of a child on the back of her phone, after which she told him she had a son and had recently separated from a marriage that lasted eight years.
The woman later suggested going on another date the next day to a Cuban restaurant for drinks and dancing, but he declined. After dropping her home, the man said he texted her to politely end things.
“When I got home, I sent her a text saying it was nice seeing her. However, I didn’t feel a connection and ended things,” he said.
He claimed the situation escalated soon after.
The woman, however, repeatedly messaged and called him, asking why he did not want to continue seeing her. Even after he told her to stop contacting him, he claimed that he received 10 calls that same night, prompting him to block her number.
But the calls, he said, did not stop.
The next day, he received around 20 missed calls from different numbers, along with voicemails he claimed were from the same woman demanding he call her back.
What happened next left him shaken.
His mother woke him up on Saturday morning to tell him a woman was outside their house asking for him. He claimed it was Ruth.
“She managed to find my address and was asking to talk to me,” he wrote, adding that his mother told the woman he was not home.
Before leaving, the woman left a note at his doorstep.
The letter read: “This is Ruth. I don't know if you ever will read this but at least I tried to do. I'm not walking out with me not trying. I did my best to reach you even asking my friends to get your info. I'm not a stalker. I'll not come back here, don't worry. I only needed 3 things: Explanation, clear all confusion and a bit comfy with myself.”
The man said the incident left him deeply unsettled, adding that he was considering contacting the police or seeking a restraining order.
“I’m freaked out now,” he said.
The post gained traction online, with many users urging the man to prioritise his safety, document all evidence and consider informing authorities. Others said the incident served as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting personal information while using dating apps.
