A man from Mumbai captured a speeding car being driven on the wrong side of the road which had allegedly hit him, an elderly pedestrian and narrowly missed others, before sharing the footage online and urging authorities to take action.

The video was shared on X by Mumbai resident Bhavin Hirani, who documented the incident and described what happened in the caption of his post.

In the video, a red car was seen being driven at high speed on the wrong side of the road near Inorbit Mall in Mumbai. The driver appeared to make sudden turns while cutting across traffic, forcing vehicles coming from the opposite direction to slow down and move aside to avoid a collision.

As the clip continued, the car was seen weaving through the road recklessly, repeatedly blocking oncoming traffic and creating a dangerous situation for motorists and pedestrians alike.

When the man recording ran over to the driver to confront him, he was seemingly unfazed, even amused as he smiled throughout the confrontation and told the man, "Bohot marunga (I will beat you a lot)."

According to Bhavin, the incident took place at around 9:09 pm on July 5. He claimed that the driver struck an elderly man and also hit him during the reckless drive. He further claimed that the vehicle had tinted windows and a number plate that was not compliant with the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) norms.

After the post gained attention, Mumbai Police responded in the comments, stating that senior officials at Bangur Nagar Police Station had been informed about the incident.

The video also sparked a wider discussion online about dangerous driving and road safety. Several users criticised what they described as a growing sense of entitlement among some motorists, arguing that weak enforcement often encourages repeat offenders.

Others called for strict legal action against the driver, saying such incidents put innocent lives at risk and that a strong example should be set to discourage similar behaviour in the future.

Many also urged authorities to act swiftly before reckless driving leads to more serious tragedies.
