Nigerian boy builds mini washing machine from cardboard, the result is mind-blowing
A Nigerian boy built a miniature washing machine from cardboard and tested it on camera. The clip drew praise for his ingenuity and sparked calls for better support for such talent.

A Nigerian man left the internet stunned after building a fully functional miniature washing machine out of cardboard and everyday materials, then proving that it actually worked by washing a tiny cloth in front of the camera.
The video was shared by Smartician, a 17-year-old content creator from Nigeria known for turning ordinary household items into surprisingly clever inventions, on his Instagram account.
In the clip, Smartician kicked things off after being asked a simple question: “Can you make a washing machine?” to which he confidently responded, “Okay, challenge accepted,” before diving straight into the project.
The video then showed him carefully assembling the machine piece by piece, cutting and shaping cardboard and plastic bottles, wiring components together, and designing different sections of the tiny appliance with impressive attention to detail.
After finishing the build, Smartician introduced what he called the “actual test,” holding up a small cloth before placing it into the miniature machine.
He then added soap and pressed a button, causing the cardboard washing machine to begin filling itself with water. Moments later, the tiny drum started spinning, successfully washing the cloth as he watched in excitement.
“Yo, it’s actually washing,” he exclaimed in the clip as the machine came to life.
But the experiment did not stop there.
Smartician also built a functioning spinner section designed to remove excess water and speed up drying. After transferring the cloth into the spinner and letting it run, he proudly revealed the result, showing that the fabric had indeed been cleaned and dried more efficiently.

The video, captioned, “I made a washing machine from cardboard,” received admiration from viewers impressed by both the invention and the creator behind it.
Social media users called Smartician a genius, expressing disbelief that he had managed to build a working washing machine entirely from scratch using such simple materials.
Others said creators like him deserved access to better resources and opportunities, indirectly arguing that talent and innovation often only needed the right support system to flourish.
Several commenters also focused on his personality, indirectly praising the creator for appearing humble, intelligent, and deeply passionate about what he does.
A number of users also hoped the video would reach the “right people,” indirectly wishing that the viral attention could help bring him wider recognition and opportunities for his inventions.
