Rajasthan family gets midnight shock as cobra slithers into rat trap
A rat trap placed inside a Rajasthan village house caught a large black cobra instead of rodents. The find triggered panic before the forest department was called to rescue and release the snake.
A family in Rajasthan got the shock of their lives after a trap they had set up to catch rats ended up capturing a large venomous black cobra instead. The unexpected incident, which unfolded in the middle of the night, has since grabbed attention for its sheer improbability.
The incident took place in Semla village in the Chhabra area of Baran district, where Bharat Singh Lodha had placed a cage near an almirah inside his home to deal with a recurring rat problem.
However, when he checked the trap at around 1 am, he was met with a startling sight. Instead of a rat, a large black cobra was sitting inside the cage with its hood fully spread.
The discovery left the family terrified and triggered panic inside the house. Fearing the venomous snake, they immediately alerted neighbours, who soon gathered at the residence after hearing about the unusual catch.
Videos of the incident show the cobra confined inside the trap as onlookers maintain a safe distance. Many were left astonished that the reptile had entered the cage that had been intended for rodents.
The forest department was informed soon after, and officials were called to safely rescue the snake. The cobra is expected to be released back into a nearby forest in accordance with wildlife rescue protocols.
The incident also serves as a reminder of the increased movement of snakes during the monsoon season. Heavy rainfall and waterlogged habitats often force reptiles out of their natural surroundings and into residential areas in search of dry shelter or food, leading to a rise in such encounters.
