Shop owner Laxman Sen said he found the store ransacked when he opened it the next morning, with mobile phones missing and goods scattered across the shop. He estimated that 30 to 40 smartphones worth around Rs 4-5 lakh had been stolen.

CCTV footage from the shop purportedly captured one of the suspects wearing a PM Modi mask while carrying out the burglary.

Kareda police station officer Puranmal Meena reached the spot with a team, inspected the scene and registered a case. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and trace the suspects.

The incident has sparked concern among traders in Kareda, who have demanded stronger night patrolling in the area.

In another incident the same night, thieves allegedly attempted to break into another mobile store, Sanwariya Mobile Shop, near the Seed Godown intersection in Kareda. CCTV footage from that location also showed a suspect wearing a similar mask while trying to break the shutter lock.
